A BIT MORE ABOUT US

Starting off in their bedrooms with Logic Pro X, a cheap microphone and a drum kit, remote released their first single ‘aMeRiCa’ in 2021. Delving into the fantasies of embodying an American persona, ‘aMeRiCa’ explores being a British teenager heavily influenced by U.S music and media. In their two subsequent singles ‘Homewrecker’ and ’Transpennine Trail’ remote explores the tribulations of young unrequited love, inner conflicts and sexuality.
During the lockdown, unable to perform live, they turned to TikTok to engage with their expanding digital audience, reaching out to fans in their hometown of Manchester and in their respective university cities of Durham and Leeds.
Ruben first picked up drum sticks as a joke to audition for his primary school rock band at 11. By age 13, he was sneaking his way on stage to avoid the 16+ rules of the first venues he performed. Music also saw him through his academic life all the way through to obtaining a degree in Music Psychology. Alongside his academic life, he took to songwriting and producing for remote, singing in choirs at the Royal Albert Hall, performing in several European countries in orchestras/marching bands, and conducting a choir at Leeds University.
Alex has had an affinity with music since he was convinced to participate in his first vocal competition age 12. After being in every theatre production, choir and school band available, he spent the majority of his time in his room, singing, playing his piano and guitar, creating odd tracks on GarageBand using his trusted Samson microphone gifted by his grandma. Alex notes that his college band 2019 gig age 17 at ‘band on the wall’ in Manchester truly inspired him to pursue a career in Songwriting and production. Since forming remote with Ruben in 2020, almost 4 singles later and a Degree in Psychology from Durham University, Alex says he grows as a musician through every release.
